GU14

Ok, so I'm not doing such a hot job of posting on here.
Most of my pictures end up on Facebook as it's easier to post to.
Don't give up on me.  Check back every so often and you just might catch an interesting Walters update.
This morning was the last of Rebecca's *late* games for the season.  All the rest are at 8 am. UGH.
Since she is now on Cross Association, we are having to do just a small bit of traveling.  Unfortunately, I did not realize this when I signed her up. Thankfully, all of the games are within 30 mins of our house and within the county.
Today, the girls games were overlapping and about 25 mins away from each other so Jay and I split up.  He went one way and I went the other.  Here are a couple pictures from this morning's game of the GU14.
They played against Richmond FC and won 10-1.  Way to go Kickers!

Saturday Soccer: Two games at once

Both the girls games were overlapping which has it's good side and it's bad side.
Good that we can get soccer over and done with at one time so we can get on without day- beneficial on extremely hot or cold days.
Bad that we cannot see both girls play at the same time.  Thankfully, their fields are next to each other, only separated by a fence and big hill. You can stand in one place and watch both, but it's like watching a ping-pong game.  Back and forth... You can easily get caught up in one game and miss out on the other.
This Saturday, Emily played goalie the first half for the first time.  Let me tell you, she was a BEAST!  She did such a great job that I started to tear up- maybe that was the hormones talking though.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and if you ever get a chance, come on out and catch a game or two!

Emily was right where ever the ball was.

Rebecca played midfield and is always pretty aggressive.

That girl was pushing just a bit to get the ball...

but you see who was faster, huh?

Emily has some great throw ins.

great form

Back to Rebecca...still playing aggressively.

GU12 and GU10 Fall Soccer

A great day of soccer!

After all this rain that we have received lately, the girls were able to finally play in a soccer game.
This was the fourth scheduled game of the season, yet it was only the second that either of them has played.

REBECCA GU12

It was a very anticipated game.

First off, their first game was a dud.  The girls on Rebecca's team had only had 1 practice beforehand and did not know each other.  The coach was out of town and the assistant coach didn't know anyones names, telling the girls to "get out there and play what postion you are best at."  It was utter chaos on our behalf.  The girls were ready this time to bring it, and that is exactly what they did.

Secondly, this is the first game that Rebecca is playing AGAINST her former team of 7 seasons.  Long story short, we were traitors and went with a different coach.  It was very difficult at first for her to play against friends and girls that she knows quite well, but she held her ground and played hard.

All in all, they won 4-0 with only a few injuries.

Although it looks like the goalie was going to get this one,
it went right by her but missed the goal ;(

Look at that legwork.

One of the many times that she fell.

Towards the end of the game, she was fighting hard to keep control of the ball, as was this other girl.
This led to her being pushed twice, ending in a penalty kick for her team.
Her knees are very sore tonight.

EMILY GU10

This is Emily's second game playing with the U10's.  It is a big leap up from the U08's that she has played with for the last 4 seasons.
Emily is on a strong team.  Last season, she was the strong player, this one, not so much.  It's tough going from top dog to having to prove yourself to a new coach.
This coach is in it to win it.  He stated at the first practice that he is very competeive and will do what it takes to win.  That has been proved in the 2 games they have played so far- winning both by a large margin.  In both games, neither opposing team has scored on them.

Not looking very action packed here.

Emily busting through a huddle of girls.

I was standing at a difficult angle to get pictures here, yet I still tried.  I was watching both girls play at the same time, which isn't as easy as you would think.
Anyways, here, Emily has scored and it looks as if she is going to fall over, but she doesn't :)
Way to go Em!
